Common Sense Parenting
Raising children can be rewarding, but it can also come with challenges. Project CREST helps connect parents and caregivers with trusted programs that provide practical tools for supporting their children’s success at home, at school, and in life.
Common Sense Parenting® (CSP) is the primary parent education program offered through the Center for Youth and Family Resilience. Developed by Boys Town, this six-session program helps parents build skills and confidence while learning strategies they can use right away with their children.
What Parents and Caregivers Learn
Throughout the program, parents and caregivers learn how to:
- Improve communication with their children
- Encourage positive behavior
- Set clear expectations and consistent consequences
- Support healthy decision-making
- Strengthen family relationships
- Help children develop self-control and responsibility
- Promote success in school and everyday life
CSP is designed to be practical, supportive, and easy to apply. Families leave with tools that can help reduce family stress, strengthen parent-child relationships, and build resilience for facing life’s challenges together.

Data and Impact
During the 2025–2026 CSP cycles, parent participants were asked to complete an online pre-survey at the beginning of the first session and a post-survey at the end of the final session. When asked, “Overall, how useful was this workshop to you and your family?” all participants reported that the class was “very” or “extremely” useful.
Additional results coming soon. Outcome data, locations, session counts, participation totals, parent quotes, and event photos will be added when the client supplies the approved information.
