Agriculture Education

The foundation of 4-H, beginning in 1902, is strongly rooted in agriculture. In fact, the very first club was called “The Tomato Club,” soon after other clubs focusing on hands-on learning to improve farms started popping up across the country. In Washington County those roots are still growing strong with many of our community members participating in raising and showing animals each year. Washington County boasts one of the largest and most active horse clubs in the State, youth interested in showing cattle, hogs, lambs, goats, rabbits, and chickens can find several opportunities to show animals each year as well!
