Agriculture in Uintah County
Uintah County has 1,023 farms covering approximately 1.87 million acres, mostly pastureland with about 84,000 acres of cropland. The market value of products sold is about $62.9 million, split between livestock (53%) and crops (47%), with net cash income rising to $18.3 million, more than three times higher than in 2017.
Top commodities include cattle (32,470 head, $23.7 million), forage crops (34,316 acres), corn, wheat, and aquaculture ($2.5 million, ranked first in Utah). Sheep, goats, poultry, and horses also contribute to the county’s agricultural production.
Most farms are family operated (96%), and many are small-scale operations, with 41 percent earning under $2,500 annually. Nearly one in ten farms generate over $100,000. There are 1,901 producers, 38 percent of whom are women, with 599 new and beginning farmers.
