Roslynn Brain McCann, PhD

Biography

Dr. Roslynn Brain McCann is a Sustainable Communities Extension Specialist in the Department of Environment and Society at Utah State University. She applies conservation theory, communication techniques, and social marketing tools to foster environmental behaviors in land (conservation, reducing, reusing and recycling), air (quality and climate change), food (sustainable and local food systems), water (quality, quantity, water resilient landscaping), and energy (efficiency and renewable energy). Roslynn also teaches ENVS 4700: Communicating Sustainability, helps lead the National Extension Climate Initiative, the Utah Farmers Market Network and Sustainable You! kids’ camps, and she co-leads the Utah High School Clean Air Marketing Contest and the USU Permaculture Initiative. Permaculture design as a climate change adaptation and mitigation framework, sustainable food systems, Indigenous climate resilience, and expanding Extension climate change programming nationwide centralize her research interests.
