Roslynn Brain McCann, PhD

Biography

Dr. Roslynn Brain McCann is a Sustainable Communities Professor in the Department of Environment and Society at Utah State University, USA. Her research interests center on permaculture design for climate change adaptation and mitigation, local, small-scale, and sustainable food systems, improving air quality through youth engagement, and Indigenous climate resilience. Roslynn applies conservation theory, communication techniques, and social marketing tools to foster environmental behaviors in land (conservation, reducing, reusing and recycling), air (quality and climate change), food (sustainable and local food systems), water (quality, quantity, resilient landscaping), and energy (efficiency and renewable). She advises Utah State University’s Sustainable Systems minor, teaches undergraduate ENVS 4700: Communicating Sustainability, and helped form and collaboratively leads the National Extension Climate Initiative, the Utah Farmers Market Network, Sustainable You! kids’ camps, the Utah High School Clean Air Marketing Contest, and the USU Permaculture Initiative.
