Description: Tennessee Healthy Hardwoods has the goal of reaching private woodland owners with the message of sustainable hardwood forest management. On-site field days are held where participants can view first-hand forestry practices that focus on timber production while protecting water, soil and wildlife resources.

Description: Urbanization is a leading cause of degradation and threat to water quality in watersheds across Tennessee. While three out of every four Tennesseans lives in an urbanized area, it is critical that we reach this stakeholder group with solutions to minimize their local footprint to ensure sustainable resources and healthy communities for the future all the while fulfilling their needs for their yard spaces.

Modeled after other successful state programs, the Tennessee Smart Yards program aims to empower citizens with information on sustainable residential landscaping practices, so that they may take actions towards certifying their property as a Tennessee Smart Yard.
