Description: The Nevada Naturalist Program is an adult, environmental education program created to develop a corps of education naturalist volunteers to serve in southern Nevada. The program is a partnership with the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, Nevada Department of Wildlife, Fish and Wildlife Service, Nevada State Museum, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and others. The Nevada Naturalist Program is offered in two sessions of instruction created by Cooperative Extension with experts in each field of study and with full advisement and review of the partners. Upon completion of the program, participants will be certified to engage in community education programs, environmental restoration and enhancement projects, and other activities deemed necessary by the partners.

Program: Grow you Own, Nevada

Description: Learn about the sustainable, local, healthy living practices of growing and preserving your own food. We teach gardeners, landscapers, nursery workers, cottage food enthusiasts and prospective small-scale growers how to care for their soil and their plants to create beautiful, water-efficient and productive ornamental and edible gardens for personal use or for profit. Our focus is on use of sustainable growing methods, such as integrated pest management, pollinator protection, composting, cover cropping, season extension, crop rotation and more.
