Program: Louisiana Certified Prescribed Burner

Description: The LSU AgCenter provides training for individuals who wish to be certified as Prescribed Burners, in close cooperation with the state Department of Ag & Forestry, who conducts the certification. There are three classifications of Prescribed Burner Certification – Forestry, Marshland and Agricultural. Certification is not mandatory, but it provides a higher level of liability protection to the burner. Workshops are either 3-day or half-day in length.

Description: LaHouse Resource Center is a sustainable housing demonstration, attraction and Extension outreach program of LSU AgCenter. It teaches building science applications that integrate resource-efficiency, durability and health, because “As we shape our homes, we shape our future”.

Program: Louisiana Master Farmer Program

Description: The Louisiana Master Farmer Program focuses on helping agricultural producers voluntarily address environmental concerns as well as helping them enhance the production and resource management skills they need for the continued sustainability of Louisiana agriculture. Program helps producers by teaching them about environmental stewardship, conservation-based production techniques and resource management. The program uses a comprehensive approach that includes classroom instruction, observation of LSU AgCenter research-based best management practices and implementation of a NRCS/RMS comprehensive conservation plan.
