Biography

Roslynn McCann is a Professor and Sustainable Communities Extension Specialist. She runs the USU Extension Sustainability program, is engaged in tribal climate resilience, and in national Extension climate change programming.

Teaching Interests

Roslynn teaches ENVS 4700, Communicating Sustainability and has taught ENVS 5570, Sustainable Living. These are community engaged learning classes empowering students to foster environmental change throughout communities. Enthusiasm, approachability, and credibility are central values in her teaching.

Research Interests

Applying behavioral theory to explain and predict environmental behavior change, then influencing change via communication and social marketing techniques serve as the core of Roslynn's research interests. Her Extension program - USU Extension Sustainability - involves outreach on air quality, climate change, water conservation, land conservation, landfill issues, sustainable and local food initiatives, and renewable and efficient energy. Permaculture design as a climate change adaptation and mitigation framework, Indigenous climate resilience, and expanding Extension climate change programming nationwide centralize her current interests.
