August means Discovery Days is just around the corner!  Discovery Days will now be held at the 4-H Ranch House (11000 S. 2200 W. South Jordan).  Come spend the day of 4-H fun with us and cheer on our youth at the 4-H Horse Show and explore the amazing projects Salt Lake County 4-H youth has worked on all year. 

We are winding down the summer folks, but we have a few more camps you will love! Take a look and register before it's too late!

 

Discovery Days Maker Space and Help Desk

Date: August 3

Time: 1-4pm

Location: 4-H Clubhouse

Details:  The 4-H Clubhouse will be open to all 4-H members to create a variety of projects to enter into Discovery Days, get your questions answered and get help entering your projects into EZ-Fair. 

We have several items you can make for a minimal fee: 

Leather Keychain $2

Fabric wallet: Free

Pebble/Rock Art $2

Rock Painting (for a free ticket to the Utah State Fair) Free

Sublimation crafts:  A mug, coaster or a tote bag $2 each item

Mini canvas painting Free

You can make as many of the projects as you choose. 

You will need to register on Z-Suite. Most of the crafts will have a small fee for supplies.

Urban Gardening Ready, Set, Grow!  Summer Camp

Date: August 3-5
Time: 9am-12pm
Location: 4-H Clubhouse(11161 S. 2200 W. South Jordan)
Details:  Step into the exciting world of gardening and plants! Are you curious about pollinators, harvests, and bugs?  Find out more at this fun and interactive camp where you will make good friends and learn cool stuff!

Jr. Livestock Show

Date: August 5-8

Location: Bastian Agricultural Center Indoor Arena

Jr. Master Gardeners and Growing Leaders

Dates: August 6th and 27th

Time: JMG 6-7pm, Growing Leaders 5:30-7pm

Location: 4-H Clubhouse

Details:  We will be harvesting some veggies, learning about food preservation and having a Family Recipe Cooking Challenge! You don't want to miss out! It's not too late to join Junior Master Gardeners! If you are interested in getting involved, add Jr. Master Gardeners to your personal profile on Z-Suite and your in!

How To Be A Human Summer Camp

Date: August 10-12
Time: 9am-12pm
Location: 4-H Clubhouse (11161 S. 2200 W. South Jordan)
Details: Get ready for real-life fun at our 4-H “How to Be a Human” Day Camp! This hands-on camp is all about learning the skills you need to take care of yourself—while having a blast. Campers will explore cooking tasty meals, designing their own spaces, trying out sewing projects, learning basic child care, practicing smart budgeting, and more. Each activity is interactive, creative, and designed to build confidence and independence in a fun, supportive environment. Come ready to learn, create, and level up your everyday life skills!

Discovery Days August 14-15 2026

Now is the perfect time to gather your projects and get ready to enter them in 4-H Discovery Days. Whether you've created artwork, STEM projects, leathercraft, baked goods, garden exhibits, animal project displays, portfolios, photography, sewing projects, or something else, there's a place for it!

Exhibit Drop Off: Wednesday, August 12th , 4:30-7pm

Exhibit Open to the public: Friday, August 14th ,  5-8pm to Saturday August 15, 10:30am-6:30pm

Exhibit Pick-Up: Saturday, August 15th, 6:30pm-8pm

Salt Lake County 4-H Dance

Location: The Covered Arena at the Bastian Agricultural Center

Details: Come enjoy a night of celebration for our 4-H Youth and their families as we finish the year off with a good ol' 4-H dance. All are welcome no matter your age! This is for everyone!

Livestock-Opoly Summer Camp

Date: August 31-September 2

Time: 5-7:30pm

Location: 4-H Clubhouse

Details: Welcome to Livestock-opoly! Walk the board with the Livestock Project Ambassadors as you navigate the livestock industry. Youth roll through hands-on stations inspired by Monopoly, building skills in feeding basics, showmanship, animal behavior, nutrition, health, and confidence, all while learning what it really takes to succeed in the livestock industry. Whether you own a livestock animal or not, but want to learn more, this is the camp for you!

Not a member of 4-H? No problem, you can still register, so grab your friends and reserve your spots!

New This Year
  • We are moving 4-H Discovery Days to the Bastian Center! Come check out the exhibits at the 4-H Ranch House! (11000 S. 2200 W. South Jordan)
  • Department H: America's 250 has been added to celebrate our nation's 250th anniversary. Youth may enter additional exhibits in this special department.
  • Cloverbud members (Kindergarten-2nd grade) should now enter their projects in Department F: Cloverbuds. Cloverbud exhibits will receive Cloverbud ribbons, be displayed during 4-H Discovery Days, and, as in previous years, are not eligible for advancement to the Utah State Fair.
Registering Your Exhibits
Please refer to the attached instructions for step-by-step guidance on using EZFair.
You will sign in using your ZSuite username and password. Before submitting your entries, please verify that:
  • Your contact information is correct.
  • Your club name and club leader are listed correctly.
Youth may enter one exhibit per class, with the exception of Department G (Plants), where up to two exhibits per class may be entered if they are different varieties.
Exhibits will receive ribbon awards, and selected entries will advance to represent Salt Lake County 4-H at the Utah State Fair.

Need help finishing a project or entering exhibits?
Drop in to:
  • Create a project using supplies we'll provide.
  • Get help preparing exhibits for judging.
  • Receive assistance with EZFair registration.
  • Ask questions about Discovery Days.
Families should register through ZSuite if their youth would like supplies for one of the featured projects. Parents and club leaders are also welcome to stop by for exhibit registration assistance.
