Plate 212X. Wilson Peak Ridge ca. 1960 - 2003 Viewed east across Johnson Bench and upper Johns Valley from the ridge leading to Wilson peak. Powell Point (10,188 ft.) is on the left skyline, while Canaan Peak (9,293 ft.) is on the right. Although not taken from the exact same camera station, Plates 212x, 213x, and 214x form a panorama. Curlleaf mountain mahogany and young bristlecone pines have become established on the road fill in the foreground. Ponderosa pine, pinyon, juniper, greenleaf manzanita, and bristlecone pine have increased on the ridge, while pinyon and juniper have increased on Johnson Bench despite recent cutting and prescribe-burning by the Forest Service.
