Plate 186X. Upper Valley 1943 - 2003 Viewed southwest in Upper Valley after the area had been root-plowed and reseeded by the Forest Service to improve range conditions. Rubber rabbitbrush and sagebrush, however, have since reinvaded the site, while pinyon, juniper, and ponderosa pine have increased on the distant hillsides.
