Description:

Plate 184X. Upper Valley 1943 - 2003 Viewed southwest in Upper Valley. This area was root-plowed and reseeded with crested wheatgrass to improve range conditions a year before the initial image was made. Sagebrush and rubber rabbitbrush, however, have since reinvaded the site. Pinyon, juniper, and ponderosa pine have increased on the distant hillsides. The area had not been grazed by cattle in 2003, but fresh elk sign was abundant.
