Plate 410X. Tropic Canyon 1932 – 2004 Viewed northeast across Tropic Wash in Bryce Canyon National Park. Shakespear Piont (7,842 ft.) is on the left skyline in the original, but is hidden from view in the retake. Note the ponderosa pine stump in the lower right corner of the original, as well as the retake. Pinyon, juniper, and ponderosa pine have all increased, especially in the foreground. Greenleaf manzanita has also increased, as has bitterbrush. Since the establishment of the national park, this area has not been grazed by livestock. Indian rice grass is abundant. The photopoint is across from mile marker 17 on Utah Highway 12.
