Description:

Plate 1220X. Towers of the Virgin 1935 – 2006 Viewed northwest across the Virgin River to the Towers of the Virgin in Zion National Park. Bee Hive Peak (6,904 ft) is in the center, and The Sentinel (7,520 ft) is on the right. In the foreground of the 1935 image is the old CCC Camp, while private homes dot the valley floor to the west of the river. Today, this is all part of Zion National Park and park headquarters has been built at the mouth of Oak Creek - - see Plate 1215X. In place of the CCC Camp, the Park Service has constructed employee housing. Cottonwoods have increased but many of those trees were apparently planted. Pinyon and juniper have increased.
