Threemile Chaining

Description:

Plate 1158X. Threemile Chaining 1988 – 2005 Viewed south on Threemile Creek northwest of Panguitch, Utah. The area was chained in 1975 and planted with crested and intermediate wheatgrass. Native needle and thread is also present. Shrubs include mountain big sage, snakeweed, green rabbitbrush, and bitterbrush. Pinyon and juniper have begun to invade the seeding but many of the offending trees were recently removed by hand. The area was grazed by cattle in 2005. The photopoint is marked with a steel fence post.
