Description:

Plate 1217X. The Three Patriarchs 1929 – 2006 Viewed northwest to the Three Patriarchs - - Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob - - in Zion National Park. Visible are the park stables and resident buildings at the mouth of Birch Creek. The Virgin River is hidden from view by cottonwoods and boX elder, which have increased in height. Pinyon and juniper now block the original camera station, so the retake was made from the nearest open area, which is further to the north. Pinyon, juniper, oakbrush, Utah serviceberry, turbinella oak, single-seeded ash, and other woody species have all increased.
