Strawberry Point

1938

2004

Description:

Plate 574X. Strawberry Point 1938 – 2004 Viewed southwest from Strawberry Point. The foreground has eroded, most likely due to foot traffic and people throwing rocks over the cliff. Conifers, primarily white fir, spruce, ponderosa pine, pinyon, and juniper, have all increased, as has other woody vegetation. The area below the point is mostly private and summer homes are being built with increasing frequency. As forest fuel increase so does the likelihood of large-scale, high-intensity crown fires and accompanying property loss.
