Plate 310. ROCK CANYON PAVANT MOUNTAINS 1936-2000 Viewed southwest to the head of Rock Canyon on the east side of the Pavant Mountains. The original photo was taken to document soil erosion and the area is still heavily trailed and eroded. Aspen has increased in height but has not regenerated due to excessive browsing. This area is still heavily used by cattle. Snowberry and big sage are common, and oakbrush is also present. U.S. Forest Service photo 327708 by C.J. Olsen in August 1936; retake by Charles E.
