Plate 709X. Pinto Ridge 1962 – 2004 In 1962 one pellet group transect and one utilization transect were established on Pinto Ridge, between Pinto Creek and Mountain Meadow, to monitor range conditions. Plate 709x is viewed northeast along the utilization transect. Pinyon and juniper have increased as have cliff rose, Utah serviceberry, and mountain big sage. The area is an important mule deer winter range and the site is also heavily grazed by cattle. Browse plants show heavy utilization.
