Plate 763X. Pine Valley Mountains 1918 – 2004 Viewed east to the Pine Valley Mountains in the Santa Clara River Valley. This area is above Pine Valley Reservoir. Conifers now block the original photopoint so the retake was made from the nearest open area. White fir, ponderosa pine, spruce, pinyon, juniper, oakbrush, and mountain brush have all increased setting the stage for high intensity wildfires.
