Pickering Creek

Plate 1402X. Pickering Creek 1942 – 2006 Viewed west across the head of Pickering Creek to the south end of Eagle Peak. Conifers now block the original camera station, so the retake was made from the nearest open area on the main road below Sugarloaf Mountain. Conifers have increased, while aspen has declined. Pinyon, juniper, and mountain brush species have all increased. Many of the older conifers, however, have recently been killed by insects and disease.
