Paria River

Plate 850X. Paria River 1945 – 2005 Viewed south across the Paria River. In the foreground are the remains of Charles Spencer’s mining operation - - see Plate 849x. The river channel appears more vegetation today than in 1945. Cottonwoods and willows have become established, as have Russian olive and tamarisk. Greasewood, rubber rabbitbrush, saltbrush, and sagebrush dominate the drier sites.
