Plate 440X. Paria River 1918 – 2004 Viewed west across the Paria River from the old Paria Townsite. Woody riparian vegetation, primarily cottonwood, willows, tamarisk, and Russian olive, is more abundant today than in the past, despite yearly use by livestock. The area was actively being grazed by longhorn cattle in 2004.
