Navajo Lake

1939

2004

Description:

Plate 605X. Navajo Lake 1939 – 2004 Viewed southwest to Navajo Lake on the Dixie National Forest. The original image was made early in the year before the lake had melted or aspen had leafed-out. Nevertheless, conifers have increased, while aspen has declined. Many mature spruce, however, have recently been killed by insects and disease. A new road right-of-way has been cleared on the far side of the lake. This view is from the overlook on Utah Highway 14.
