Plate 994X. Mammoth Creek 1945 – 2005 Viewed northwest up Mammoth Creek from the bridge on the country road. The dark colored material blocking the valley in the distance is lava. Juniper and ponderosa pine have increased. The most common shrubs are rubber rabbitbrush, mountain big sage, and currant. The area, which is mostly private property, was actively being grazed by cattle in 2005. There has been some change in the stream channel. Additional summer homes have been built.
