Leamington Pass

1964

1999

Description:

Plate 179 LEAMINGTON PASS: 1964 - 1999 This view is on the east side of Leamington Pass in the Canyon Mountains. Judging from the dead trees in the 1999 photo, pinyon (Pinus edulis) and juniper (Juniperus sp.) invaded this site only to have been killed by a wildfire sometime before 1999. The area was seeded with crested (Agropyron cristatum) and intermediate wheatgrass (Agropyron intermedium). Very little cheatgrass (Bromus tectorum) is found here. The distant hillside is part of the Fishlake National Forest.
