Description:

Plate 868X. Kanab Creek 1932 – 2005 Viewed south down Kanab Creek just below the mouth of John R Canyon. The original photopoint has been disturbed by road construction along Kanab Creek. A road has also been built from right to left across Kanab Creek - - see Plate 859x for an up-stream view. In addition, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary has built a large pet cemetery near the camera station. Willows and cottonwoods have increased, as have pinyon, juniper, oakbrush, skunkbrush, sagebrush, and rubber rabbitbrush. Russian olive and tamarisk can also be found along the creek. The active stream channel has narrowed and is more stable today than it was in the past.
