Indian Peak Pavant Mountains

2000

Description:

Plate 300. INDIAN PEAK PAVANT MOUNTAINS 1965-2000 Viewed north to Indian Peak (9,390 ft) from USFS Road 096. Much of the area in the original photo had been treated with a Dixie harrow to eliminate sagebrush, but sagebrush has reinvaded most of that area. Conifers have increased but aspen has failed to regenerate due to excessive browsing. The tall, dark-colored shrub is curlleaf mountain mahogany, which is heavily browsed and which has failed to regenerate.
