Hillsdale Canyon

2004

Description:

Plate 494X. Hillsdale Canyon 1940 – 2004 Viewed northeast across Hillsdale Creek on the western flank of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. Pinyon and juniper now block the original photopoint, so the retake was made from the nearest open area. As pinyon, juniper, and ponderosa pine have increased along the stream, willows, cottonwoods, and river birch have declined. The area was not grazed by livestock in 2004. The shrubs in the foreground are primarily rubber rabbitbrush, though, mountain big sage and green rabbitbrush are also present.
