Plate 686X. Grass Valley 1947 – 2004 Viewed east across Grass Valley. In 1944, the area was root-plowed and reseeded with crested wheatgrass to improve range conditions. Today, however, the area is dominated by mountain big sage. Pinyon and juniper have increased in the distance.
