Grade Hill

1945

1999

Description:

Plate 68. GRADE HILL: 1945 - 1999 The rail fence in the 1945 photo was replaced with a slightly different alignment. The dark line of vegetation, primarily snowberry (Symphoricarpos sp.), between the camera and the new fence in the 1999 photo is the location of the old fence. Conifers have increased by 1999 even though the area below the fence was selectively logged. The aspen (Populus tremuloides) in the 1999 photo are taller and are regenerating. Curleaf mountain mahogany (Cercocarpus ledifolius) is present on the distant hillside at left center of photo.
