Description:

Plate 1500X. Fourmile Bench 1960 – 2007 Viewed east across Fourmile Bench east of Central, Utah. The Pine Valley Mountains are in the distance. The open areas in the initial image are pinyon-juniper chainings that had been planted to crested wheatgrass. Pinyon and juniper have now reinvaded the old chainings, as has sagebrush. The tall shrubs in the chainings are cliffrose and Utah serviceberry. The dead cliffrose to the right of the highway in the retake were recently killed by a small wildfire. Pinyon and juniper have also increased on the hill in the distance (photo center) that was not treated.
