Description:

Plate 1499X. Fourmile Bench 1960 – 2007 Viewed west-northwest across Fourmile Bench east of Central, Utah. The Pine Valley Mountains are in the distance. The open area in the initial image is a pinyon-juniper chaining that had been planted to crested wheatgrass. Sagebrush and green rabbitbrush have now invaded the treated area. Pinyon and juniper have also reinvaded the chaining but most of those trees were recently removed by hand clearing. The taller shrubs in the retake are cliffrose and Utah serviceberry. The retake was made with a 135 mm telephoto lens.
