2002

Description:

Plate 51X. Escalante River 1964-2002 Viewed north from the Escalante River overlook on Utah Highway 12. Note how little woody riparian vegetation there was in 1964 and how conditions have improved with proper range management. Most of the plants are cottonwood and willows. Very little tamarisk is present. Pinyon and juniper have increased ever so slightly.
