Description:

Plate 1272X. East Creek 1958 – 2006 Viewed southwest up the South Fork of East Creek in Bryce Canyon National Park. Note the log check dams installed by the Park Service in 1935 to control erosion. Most of those wooden structures have rotted away and today the gully is more vegetated than in the past. There is no evidence of recent erosional events. The road was recently repaved. Ponderosa pine has increased.
