Plate 1352X. Coal Creek 1920 – 2006 Viewed southeast up Coal Creek in Cedar Canyon east of Cedar City. The stream channel has changed and is more vegetated today than in the past. Cottonwoods have increased as have pinyon, juniper, oakbrush, mountain brush, and conifers. Mountain brush species include curlleaf mountain mahogany, birchleaf mountain mahogany, and Utah serviceberry. The photopoint is about one-quarter mile below the mouth of Ellies Canyon.
