Plate 197X. Cherry Creek 1966 - 2003 Viewed southwest across lower Cherry Creek bench. The helicopter in the original photograph was spraying herbicide to kill sagebrush. The area was subsequently reseeded with crested wheatgrass, but today, sagebrush has reinvaded the site. Native blue gramma grass (Bouteloua gracilis) is also present. Pinyon and juniper have increased on the distant hillsides.
