Plate 121X. Casto Canyon 1921-2003 Viewed northwest across Casto Canyon with the Sevier River Valley in the distance. Ponderosa pine, Douglas fir, pinyon, and juniper have all increased even in areas that have been repeatedly logged. Open grassland and shrub communities have correspondingly declined. This area has not burned in more than 100 years. Plates 122x and 124x were made from the same camera station as Plate 121x.
