BIG FLAT BEAVER MOUNTAIN 1933-2000 Viewed northwest across Big Flat with Shelly Baldy Peak (11,321 ft), Mount Baldy (12,122 ft), and Mount Belknap (12,137 ft) in the distance (left to right). The meadow appears unchanged, but in the forested area, conifers have increased and aspen has declined. All aspen stands have been heavily invaded by conifers and no aspen stands have successfully regenerated due to repeated browsing. This is similar to Plate 143.
