Bellyache Canyon

1954

2000

Description:

Plate 240. BELLYACHE CANYON 1954-2000 Viewed southwest across the Bellyache Canyon mule deer winter range north of Junction, Utah. Pinyon and juniper have increased despite the fact much of the area was treated to remove those species since the original photograph was taken. This is why pinyon and juniper trees do not match-up in the two photos; i.e. many of the trees visible in the original were pushed-over and killed. Sagebrush appears unchanged and this area is still heavily used by livestock.
