Plate 809X. Anderson Valley 1961 – 2004 Anderson Valley was very heavily grazed by cattle in 1961 when the Forest Service established five photopoints to monitor range conditions in the Pine Valley Mountains. The meadow has now been fenced to exclude livestock and gullies have been plugged to control erosion. Plate 809x is viewed southeast. Aspen has declined, while conifers have increased. Conifers include white fir, spruce, limber pine, Douglas fir, and ponderosa pine. Grasses include Kentucky bluegrass, smooth brome, and Stipa spp. The gully has healed.
