Biography

Lacy will graduate in Spring 2020 with a BS in Environmental Studies and Sustainable Systems. By nature, Lacy is a whole-systems thinker who loves to take action and generate positive change. Lacy first met Roslynn McCann in 2017 during her Communicating Sustainability class. They have stayed connected since then and most recently worked together on Logan City becoming the third city in Utah to ban single-use plastic bags. Lacy has 20 years’ experience in Lean Production and Health Care. After being inspired by a vacation to the Caribbean, she chose to follow her passion for nature by taking an active role in mitigating climate change, protecting nature, reducing waste, and generating hope in action.

Lacy understands that sustainability is not an easy task, that there are many aspects tied together, and that we cannot change everything or everyone all at once. The best we can do as a society or individual is to collaborate with others as far-reaching as possible while caring deeply for our own backyard. The principles of permaculture go hand in hand with Lacy’s goal of bridging the gap between personal health, planetary health, and community resilience.
