Remington Masten

Biography

As the 2022 Logan Permaculture Initiative AmeriCorps assistant, Remington Masten is excited to apply the design principles he has learned while pursuing a Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning degree at Utah State University. Remington grew up spending significant time outdoors (and still does), where some of his fondest memories include hiking, backpacking, and fly fishing with his father and brothers. The idea of permaculture providing a framework for sustainably growing and sharing produce really resonates with Remington. Growing up around sugar cane fields in Gonzales, Louisiana, Remington has seen the impacts of big agriculture and how devastating it can be on the landscapes. While living in Australia - the home of permaculture - for several years, he gained a great appreciation for green urban spaces and the design principles that are integrated into its communities. Remington is eager to mix landscape design and planning with permaculture principles to create an urban food forest, ultimately helping to teach the community this important practice.
