Biography

Sheryl is a Registered Dietitian and Professional Practice Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Sciences at Utah State University. She has a Master’s degree in Health and Human Movement from the Utah State University. Sheryl has worked as a Registered Dietitian for 25 years. Some of her career highlights include: Sports Nutritionist for high school, university, and endurance athletes; Food and Nutrition Director for a 60 bed assisted living facility in Hawaii; Diabetes Educator and Insulin Pump Trainer; Nutrition Support Dietitian for critical care patients; Outpatient Dietitian in hospitals, clinics and physician offices.

For 7 years, Sheryl worked as the Research Dietitian in the Center for Human Nutrition Studies at Utah State University. She developed and implemented the diets for controlled feeding trials and human nutrition studies and oversaw a staff in the clinic and kitchen. In 2014, she became a faculty member at USU and is now teaching the next generation of dietetic students! Sheryl enjoys hiking with family and friends, baking, growing a garden, traveling, and hanging out on a beach with a paddle board and a good book.

Sheryl has contributed to the Permaculture Garden over the past several years by giving feedback as to how the garden can provide edible fruits and vegetables that we can use in Soup Connection and other projects in dietetics.
