What is BIG?

Go Beyond with Bee Inspired Gardens Badges:

Want to go the extra mile? Earn these exemplary badges by implementing more sustainable practices in your garden:

  • Water Steward: Use water-saving methods like drip irrigation, greywater systems, or rainwater harvesting to keep your garden hydrated without wasting water. Group plants with similar water needs to make the most of every drop.
  • Plant Steward: Include native plants that thrive without extra irrigation once they’re established. Grow plants that provide direct food sources for humans and wildlife, supporting both local ecosystems and sustainable food systems.
  • Chemical-Free: Keep your garden safe for pollinators by avoiding chemical pesticides, herbicides, and synthetic fertilizers. Natural and organic practices help create a healthy, thriving garden that’s free of harmful substances.
  • Pollinator Housing Provider: Install homes for pollinators like native bee boxes or bat houses. These provide crucial shelter for important species that contribute to pollination and a balanced ecosystem.
  • BIG Educator: Become an advocate for pollinators by sharing your knowledge with friends, neighbors, and your community. Talk about your garden’s eco-friendly features and inspire others to join the movement.
