Alex Boyé and Debra Bonner Kick Off USU Extension Summer Gospel Choir Camps

June 12, 2017

Alex BoyeUtah State University Extension in Davis County has partnered with vocal coach Debra Bonner to offer two sessions of 4-H Youth Summer Gospel Choir Camps for youth ages nine to 18 years old.

“These summer choir sessions will be an excellent opportunity for youth to learn from a talented director,” said Zuri Garcia, USU Extension 4-H agent. “Youth will feel empowered to express themselves and develop their singing talent.”

In order to celebrate the beginning of the summer camps and to showcase Bonner’s work, the Debra Bonner Unity Gospel Choir performed with Alex Boyé at the Legacy Events Center on June 3. Boyé shared how music brought him out of depression years ago and that some challenging life experiences have inspired his music. He encouraged youth to get involved with music.

Bonner has over 40 years of experience working with top music industry professionals. She is a master vocal and transformational life coach as well as the founder of the Debra Bonner Unity Gospel Choir. Her dream is to “transform lives to give others hope, joy and self-esteem by helping them find their true and authentic voice while singing songs of inspiration.”

The choir camps will be held at Legacy Events Center located at 151 S. 1100 W. in Farmington.

The first camp session will take place June 12 through June 29. The second session will take place July 10 through July 28. Classes will be held Monday through Thursday (excluding the last week of July, when classes will be held Tuesday through Friday), 9 to 10:30 a.m. An evening concert will be presented to the community on the last day of each session.
