Food Waste Activities for Youth

Wasteless Plate Recipes
Check out these video tutorials that walk through several simple recipes that can be made at home! These wasteless recipes use parts of food, like peels or stems, that people typically throw away, and transforms them into delicious meals. Although these efforts may appear insignificant, they allow food to be used in its entirety and lessen food waste and food insecurity.

Green Apron Cook Alongs
Youth will learn to cook, adapt recipes, and creatively use ingredients they already have on hand to reduce food waste. Participants will also gain practical knowledge about minimizing food waste at home and in their communities.

Aggie Food Waste Camps
In our hands-on camp sessions, youth will explore where food comes from, discover how food waste happens, and learn how small choices can make a big impact at home, school, and in their communities. They will engage in fun activities like investigating food miles, learning about composting, and making seed balls.
