There is no shortage of amazing destinations in and near Utah for your next little romantic getaway! The Western U.S. has it all-- a wide range of destinations that cater to everybody’s taste. From lakeside retreats, red rocks, beaches and adventures in the city, here are six of my personal favorite places perfect for a couples vacation: Jackson Hole, Park City, Lake Tahoe, San Diego, San Francisco, and Moab. Each of these destinations has its own unique charm that’s hard not to love.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Nestled in the breathtaking Teton Range, Jackson Hole is heaven on earth for couples who love nature and a little adventure! Spend your days exploring Grand Teton National Park, where you can hike scenic trails, have a picnic and go swimming at String Lake, or take a boat ride on Jenny Lake! The Taggart Lake trail is a flat 3-mile round trip hike and if you’re lucky, you might spot some wildlife! Head into Jackson and get a bite at Teton Pizza or Liberty Burger, grab a drink at Million Dollar Cowboy Bar and wander the town square for some shopping or ice cream. For something a little fancier, check out Teton Village where you can enjoy fine dining with more incredible mountain views!

Park City, Utah

Park City is a year-round destination perfect for a little adventure with your person. During the summer-time, the mountains come alive with hiking and mountain biking trails. You can take a little chairlift ride for some scenic views and visit Park City's historic Main Street, lined with boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants- the perfect opportunity for a romantic stroll. Grab some food and beer at one of Park City’s many breweries, like Red Rock Brewing, Park City Brewing or No Name Saloon! Park City is packed with high-end resorts, and if you’re looking for a touch of luxury, you can even book a couple’s spa treatment!

Lake Tahoe, California/Nevada

On the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is known for being tucked in the beautiful Sierra-Nevada mountains, with its crystal-clear waters and perfect summer-time activities. Tahoe has it all, and during the summer it makes for the best getaway. It’s an all-around favorite destination for boating, paddleboarding, and swimming, and the refreshing water will make you want to stay forever. The two of you can enjoy a romantic sunset cruise or a scenic drive along the lake, stopping at viewpoints to snap some pics together. If you’re looking for a more unique experience, you can take a hot air balloon ride over the lake! End your day with some dinner at Beach House, a lakefront restaurant in South Lake Tahoe!

San Diego, California

San Diego is a vibrant city, and my personal favorite, known for its beautiful beaches and relaxed atmosphere. From downtown San Diego all the way up to Oceanside, there’s so much to love! Grab some breakfast together at Swami’s Cafe, and spend your days lounging at La Jolla (and go see the seals at La Jolla Cove!) If you’re looking for a little more adventure, go kayaking in the sea caves of La Jolla or take a surfing lesson together! Balboa Park, home to museums, gardens, and the famous San Diego Zoo, offers tons of opportunities for exploring. The Gaslamp Quarter is perfect for a night out, with its nightlife, bars, and excellent dining options. For a more romantic experience, go have a sunset picnic at Torrey Pines Gliderport or Sunset Cliffs.

San Francisco, California

San Francisco is a perfect destination for couples looking for a mix of city and scenery. You can take a stroll across Golden Gate Bridge, walk along the Lands End Lookout trail for amazing views of the bay, or visit Marin Headlands State Park on the other side of the bridge for my favorite view of all time. The city’s diverse neighborhoods and piers have so much to offer, from Chinatown to Fisherman’s Wharf, with its famous clam chowder and wines! You can take a cable car ride up and down the city's steep hills, get a hot fudge sundae at Ghirardelli Square, or go feel the ocean at Baker’s Beach. And don’t end your trip without trying the famous sourdough at Tartine Bakery (it’s lifechanging!) End your day with a walk along the Embarcadero, where you can take in the view of the bay and the lights of the Bay Bridge!

Moab, Utah

Moab is a dream destination for couples who love the great outdoors and incredible landscapes. It’s near both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, both offering endless opportunities for exploration and adventure. Hike the famous Delicate Arch in Arches or the Mesa Arch in Canyonlands, both moderately easy trails! For a little more thrill in your getaway, take a guided rafting trip down the Colorado River. At night, Moab's pitch-black skies make it the best spot for stargazing, creating a perfectly romantic end to your day. Stay in historic downtown Moab, walk along Main Street and grab some Italian food (specifically the manicotti) at Pasta Jay’s!

Whether you’re seeking the beauty of the mountains, a relaxing lake retreat, a beach trip or the picturesque landscapes of the desert, the American West truly has it all. Each of these destinations is sure to give you a unique experience that will create lifelong memories for you and your lover!
