Key to Trees of Logan Canyon

Option 1
Are the cones 1" to 2 1/2" long and the needle tips somewhat blunt? It is an Engelmann spruce (Picea engelmannii).

Are the cones 2 1/2" to 4 1/2" long and the needle tips sharp and bristled? Hint: these are not native to Logan Canyon but some are planted at home sites. These are native in mountainous areas in much of the rest of Utah. It is a blue spruce or Colorado blue spruce (Picea pungens).
